At Petro Coating Systems’ (PCS’) factory, the group viewed the company’s PetroGard petrolatum coating plant in operation, and were given an overview of the many uses for the material.

Following an animated discussion of the transference of pipeline knowledge from the old to the young, and a light lunch provided by their hosts, the young pipeliners left PCS’ factory and made for Geelong to visit the Shell refinery.

Upon entry to the refinery, an unexpected and rare power outage meant that the group were confined indoors for the duration of the site tour. However, the group were treated to a highly informative presentation of Shell’s operations and assets in Victoria by Shell Australia Pipeline Manager David Hamilton.

Finally, the group visited SP AusNet’s Corio city gate, located outside Lara, where they learned about the intricacies of the plant.
