ERM Power has received approval from the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority for its proposed $A500 million Three Springs Power Station and 60 km gas pipeline.
The Three Springs project is a 330 MW low-emission open-cycle gas turbine power station located 3 km outside the town of Three Springs, approximately 270 km north of Perth, WA.
ERM Power Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Philip St Baker said Three Springs is intended to serve growing demand for electricity in the emerging mid-west mining province of WA, and would be available for other customers on the southwest electricity grid.
Three Springs will be the third low-emission power station developed by ERM Power in WA, after the $A400 million 320 MW Kwinana Power Station and the $A435 million 330 MW Neerabup Power Station and gas pipeline.
