From the founding of the company’s first office in Toowong, Brisbane in 1998, OSD has grown substantially with over 100 personnel now offering project management, engineering and asset services skills to the pipeline industry in Australia and internationally.

OSD has extensive experience in all types of pipelines from water to oil, gas, steam and slurry, as well as the facilities associated with pipelines such as metering stations, compressors and pump systems. In addition to its Australian projects, OSD is also currently undertaking work in the USA, Canada, Iraq and Oman, reinforcing its ability to providing pipeline solutions to clients around the globe.

The company’s Pipeline Industry Professional Education (PIPEd) initiative, established in 2006, continues to develop new courses to further enhance industry skill levels. PIPEd’s mission to provide quality education, delivered by recognised pipeline experts in the area of onshore pipeline design and operation, has seen 2009 roll out new training opportunities to develop workshops with the goal of increasing the technical capability of pipeline engineers, designers and technicians.

PIPEd seeks to engage expertise from a range of companies to undertake the training, incorporating pipeline consultants, owners, operators, and developers from across the pipelining industry to allow a cross-fertilisation of industry practices in the training.

Workshops are one-day, hands on sessions where there is plenty of interaction amongst the attendees and the presenter. The focus is on practical outcomes, working through real case studies, with everyone being encouraged to participate. In addition to PIPEd’s scheduled workshops, in-house training is also provided. An in-house course is a convenient and cost effective way to train staff. Additionally, PIPEd offers discounts to companies willing to open their in-house courses to others.

To provide funding for a worthy cause, PIPEd has announced that all profits from training operations across Australia are to be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) for a minimum period of two years.

OSD Managing Director Brian O’Sullivan said “By making the connection between PIPEd and MDF, we are able to positively demonstrate that PIPEd is truly a philanthropic venture dedicated to training Pipeliners, and at the same time we are able to achieve support for our charity of choice; the MDF.”

In keeping with the company’s mission, OSD Pipelines remains “dedicated to delivering outstanding value to our clients through excellence in all aspects of pipelining”.
