As reported in the October 1990 edition of The Australian Pipeliner, the pertinent yet unanswered question was will the Nappy Chappie ever grow up?

The answer was maybe not; but the company he keeps had just turned 15 and it was party time at intico.

In the article, intico said they were “as Proud as Punch - we’re proud of ourselves, we’re proud of our story, we’re proud of our achievements, we’re proud of what we offer - but most of all, we’re proud of and for you, our client. You gave us the opportunities and challenges. Without you, we could not have survived, let alone be proud still to be here to continue to serve you.”

The report also talks about the VFT (very fast train), an alternative to which could be a VFP (very fast pipeline). The latter has not yet happened – but, given time, it may.

October 2005 – 15 years on

Nothing much has changed - the name is still the same although its logo is slightly ‘modified’.

As most in the industry would know the Nappy Chappie, as part of getting older, suffered from some growing pains – some of which were undoubtedly self inflicted, but partly as a consequence of situations outside his control. He’s a little sad that, in the process, he may have inflicted some less than good fortune on some of his foster parents – the ones who helped buy his nappies.

With the support of friends and associates, however, he has, now age 30, managed to be potty trained, leaving the growing pains behind and is off and running.

Still young and adventurous he’s been looking around for other opportunities as well as improved means for doing his job more efficiently and effectively.

And, thanks to you, it won’t be long before he’ll catch up to and with you again.
