The Papua New Guinea (PNG) LNG Project is on track, with Oil Search reporting a number of milestones for the second quarter of 2011.
Groundbreaking has been completed and the foundation has been poured for the Train 1 process area at the LNG plant site near Port Moresby, and pile driving for the marine jetty has commenced.
Line clearing and stringing along the onshore pipeline route has continued during the quarter, and welding, trenching and lowering has commenced.
ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso Highlands is the operator of the PNG LNG Project; Oil Search holds a 29 per cent interest. Other participants include the PNG Government, Santos and Nippon Oil.
