Fourteen people learned about ‘Hydrostatic Testing and Pipeline Commissioning’ in a seminar facilitated by Chris Hughes of OSD in November 2006 in Brisbane, which was sponsored by Fritz Boegel.

The program and its facilitator were praised by participants, including Alinta’s Jonathan Spink who said “It was a very interesting, well presented course.”

“Chris did a great job presenting. It was very educational, relevant and informative,” said Origin Energy’s Adrian Woehrle.

“Chris did an excellent job breaking the subject down into a well structured presentation,” said Nacap’s Michael Jacobs.

“I am delighted at the positive interest from the pipeline community towards this training program for pipeline engineers,” said Shane Becker, Manager of PIPEd. “It will enhance the Australian pipeline community to further provide highly skilled technical people for managing our existing, and future, pipeline networks.”

This Hydrostatic Testing and Pipeline Commissioning training program will be facilitated by Chris Hughes in other Australian and New Zealand capital cities in 2007.

Mr Becker said that the positive industry response for the first training program has provided the momentum to advance the next phase of PIPEd training programs, which will deal with a range of pipelining topics. Trainers will be drawn from across the pipeline industry where areas of expertise are recognised, to add value to the broader pipeline community.

Mr Becker has expressed his gratitude to Ms Cheryl Cartwright and APIA for their support in launching the PIPEd training courses.
