CEO Mr. Silvio Pradella said that since the opening of the company’s large pipe and tube mill in Wollongong last year by the NSW Premier, Bob Carr, Orrcon had realigned the company to provide a seamless face to the business world and had actively pursued the highest international standard of accreditation for its products, which had now been granted by the US based American Petroleum Industry.

The new facility, located strategically at Unanderra in NSW, has been formally granted its API monogram licence, to produce electric resistant welded (ERW) linepipe to the API specification 5L. Orrcon is also authorised to stencil the API monogram on all API 5L specification products that it produces at Unanderra.

Orrcon was also simultaneously audited for, and has subsequently received notification of its successful accreditation to dual quality management systems, API Q1 and ISO 9001-2000.

Orrcon’s Quality Manager, Peter Mensforth led a dedicated team that achieved all of the accreditations in record time. Mr Mensforth noted that the most pleasing aspect of the accreditation process was, that, after eight full days of intense high level audits, conducted by international auditors, Orrcon’s developed systems and processes did not receive a single non-conformance.
