According to OneSteel Market Manager Brad Reed, In the Pipeline will feature product and technology developments, changes in industry standards, and an insight into current projects.

“We see a positive future for our industry and believe we have a part to play in sharing information and learnings in the industry”.

In the Pipeline will be distributed quarterly, and will also include the opinions of various featured editors such as Technical Services Manager, John Piper, who has a wealth of knowledge to share and is well known in the industry.”

The launch of the new email newsletter comes as OneSteel Oil & Gas Pipe™ completes the manufacture of line pipe for Enertrade’s North Queensland Gas Pipeline project.

After completing the Telfer Pipeline project in November last year, OneSteel began manufacturing the 300 mm and 250 mm diameter pipe for the Moranbah to Townsville pipeline soon after.

The 397 km pipeline will provide natural gas from the Bowen Basin to the Yabulu power station, which is being converted to a base-load gas-fired power station.

According to OneSteel National Project Manager Ross McLauchlan, the manufacture, coating and supply of the pipe is on schedule with the last of the pipe expected to be completed by the end of May.

“This is the third of recent major projects we’ve worked on where we’ve taken an integrated approach with manufacture and coating, and it’s working well for our customers.”

“Together with our OneTrack® system, we have been able to offer a seamless package of fully traceable coated line pipe supply that is setting our service levels apart from our competition .

“Ultimately, we can make the customer’s job easier by simplifying project logistics, not just manufacturing the pipe. Our job doesn’t stop when the pipe comes out of our Kembla Grange facility.”

According to Mr McLauchlan, the North Queensland Gas Pipeline is the way of the future with its environmentally friendly and cost effective supply of energy to North Queensland.

“The Queensland Government and Enertrade should be congratulated for their environmental approach with this project which will reduce greenhouse gases through the use of natural gas.”
