On Tuesday 2 August, the NSW YPF held a meeting with Jemena focused on the latest developments of the Energy Pipelines Co-operative Research Centre, presented by CEO Valerie Linton.
The YPFers who attended learnt from Ms Linton about:
Why Australia needs to research pipelines;
Research can be used as a tool to help educate the younger generation of pipeline engineers;
Who backs the research such as the government, APIA, and industry; and,
The issues with future energy fuels including design, choosing materials, maintenance.
The presentation also discussed that by being part of the Energy Pipelines Co-operative Research Centre, the pipeline industry has access to research centres around the world, including current research programs and themes including design and construction of pipelines. Information was also given about how to get involved in the research programs and the variety of positions available.
Once the presentation was finished, the Jemena and NSW YPF attendees were able to network and discuss pipeline research matters over a pizza luncheon.
