Neil Mansell Transport (NMT) is proud to play an integral transport logistics role in the construction of major pipelines in Australia. A fleet of specialised vehicles, experience and operational flexibility, ensures the company provides a quality service.
This was demonstrated late last year when, while still finishing its involvement in APA Group’s Bonaparte Gas Pipeline in the Northern Territory, NMT smoothly and efficiently began delivery of 112 km of pipe onto the Berwyndale to Wallumbilla Pipeline for WDS.
Operationally, NMT provided both rail and road transport, loading and unloading, stockpile management and delivery onto the right of way (RoW) for the project.
NMT was responsible for all of the transport logistics including:
- Collection of coated pipe from the coating contractor;
- Delivery to and loading onto rail wagons;
- Unloading of rail wagons at North Star, northern New South Wales;
- Establishment and maintenance of the stockpile at North Star; and,
- Road transport on extendable trailers and unloading onto the RoW from both Wollongong and the North Star stockpile.
Despite some minor delays caused by inclement weather, NMT managed to complete the delivery of approximately 9,500 tonnes of pipe from Wollongong, New South Wales, onto the 112 km of RoW with outstanding efficiency.
As with the Bonaparte project, NMT managed to easily keep pace with WDS’ pipe laying program of around 4 km per day, completing the task in less than five weeks.
