National Vegetation Management is Australia’s industry leader in power and gas easement clearing. As the company specialises solely in vegetation clearing contracting, it can deliver an experienced, professional service to its customers that can troubleshoot land clearing needs using environmentally sound solutions.
The personnel at National Vegetation Management have had a very busy past few months. Highlights during this time include the completion of a new workshop facility, commissioning of a new Volvo 29 tonne excavator with Vertical Tree Extractor in July and of a 450 hp Broad Acre Mulcher in August, as well as the recent delivery of a new 850 hp VM3600 Vertical Mulcher, which is ‘the world’s largest mulching attachment’.
The new 850 hp Vertical Mulcher has twice the horsepower and three times the torque output of National Vegetation Management’s current Vertical Mulchers. This new machine delivers several production benefits, especially with Australian hard woods, and is to be mounted on a new 35 tonne class excavator.
The VM3600 features the latest hydraulic technology, enabling its cutter drum – which weighs 1,200 kg – to go from zero to 216 km/h in a mere 2.5 seconds. It can mulch any size of tree.

National Vegetation Management has just completed clearing a pipeline easement for Origin Energy’s Spring Gully Project. National Vegetation Management’s Managing Director Stephen Goodall said, “With environmental restraints reducing pipeline easement widths to 20 metres or lower, there is not enough easement space to stockpile trees that have been cut down. Our equipment, which mulches an entire easement in situ, allows the construction crew to grade the mulch to one side and then grade the mulch back after construction. The added benefit is the mulch is an excellent form of erosion and dust control that also accelerates revegetation of the affected area.”
The company is currently clearing the Tugan Bypass Motorway project in Queensland for Abigroup and the Powerlink Queensland/Downer Townsville Loop Transmission Line.
With the recent expansion of National Vegetation Management’s fleet of mulching equipment, the company is more than capable of handling the largest of projects both in Australia and overseas.
In response to requests from customers, National Vegetation Management has also added ‘Access Track Construction’ to its range of services. This new service enables the company to hand over to the customer and/or construction crew completed easement and access tracks. Some customers opt to tender the easement clearing contract separately to the construction contract. This has proven to be beneficial, as it allows environmental and other issues such as detailed surveying to be resolved prior to the construction company starting work. This ensures that when they arrive, the true lay of the land has been determined.
Mr Goodall said, “Often when we arrive on site, we are the first making a path. The construction and budget approvals are usually delayed, so there is massive pressure on the construction company. This way, designs can be finalised and lot of the hidden problems highlighted prior to construction commencing.”
National Vegetation Management’s quality of work and working relationship with customers has been the catalyst for its growth. The company operates Australia and Asia-wide and its experienced team is ready to assist with land clearing project and consultancy needs.
