This new generation inline inspection tool combines multi-channel caliper and SAAM® smart utility pig technologies to provide enhanced resolution and accuracy, for timely and reliable geometry results. A large number of caliper arms and new data sampling techniques enable the definition of the size, profile, location and o’clock position of pipeline defects down to 2 per cent (or smaller) of diameter. Designed to meet new OPS pipeline integrity management regulations in the USA, the technology is available globally.

Suitable for use in hydrocarbon lines from 6 inches to 60 inches, the initial fleet of tools is based in Houston, and deployed by Weatherford’s experienced personnel who provide on-site analysis reports for the identification of critical defects.

First showcased at the Weatherford Pipeline & Specialty Services booth at the Pipeline Pigging & Integrity Management conference in Houston in February, more details on the MultiCal360 tool were made available at the Offshore Pipeline Technology conference in Amsterdam in March.
