Maloney Field Services has embarked on an ambitious research project to determine whether gas pipelines and their associated easements have an affect the land value. Utilising their ATTLIS Database, which tracks all changes to land ownership along an easement, the company has been analysing the impact of gas pipelines on land values. The focus of the case study are properties along the SEA Gas pipeline, which runs from Port Campbell in Victoria to Torrens Island in Adelaide and crosses various land uses and topography. As each property was sold, MFS has compared their market value with comparable land sales not affected by pipelines in the district, in conjunction with feedback from local agents operating in the area.
