Major river crossings for 42 inch oil and gas pipelines in Azerbaijan

McConnell Dowell key expat staff are managing the design and installation of the major river crossings on the BTC and SCP oil and gas pipelines in Azerbaijan where McConnell Dowell are working with CCCIC on the 442 km 42 inch oil and gas pipelines from Baku to the Georgia border.
The 42 inch concrete coated river crossings require specialist design for both permanent and temporary works - engineering (Dave Gratton), method statements (Alan Noronha, Whitney Keller), management (Wayde Moon & Clint Kellar) and installation (Jim Gibb, Ian Glass and Neil Scoble) - to ensure the crossings are installed safely and that the strict environment standards required by BP are met.

There are ten crossings including the 900 m Kura West River. The crossing sections are massive at 18 t per 12 m joint and require 355C and 594 pipelayers for the installation.
