APIA Chief Executive Cheryl Cartwright believes that becoming an Employee Member is a great way to show support for the industry
“This industry is blessed with many members who offer their own time to provide information and feedback to assist with work that the APIA Secretariat undertakes on behalf of the industry; Employee Membership is a further demonstration of this support,” she says.
You are eligible to become Employee Members if your company is an APIA Member.
Strengthen the voice of your industry

The recent Government proposals of the Resource Super Profits Tax and the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme have highlighted the need for strong and effective associations to advocate on behalf of Australia’s industries to federal and state governments.
Governments continue to propose changes to policy, legislation and regulations, which impact on the companies you work for – affecting their profitability and in turn the employment conditions and opportunities they can offer their employees.
By signing up as an Employee Member of APIA you will strengthen the voice of the industry and its ability to lobby governments to ensure companies involved in Australia’s transmission pipeline industry continue to thrive.
Opportunities come to those who participate
By being an active part of your industry you can expand your business network as well as increase your presence within your own company. Knowing the latest in project, company and regulatory news will enable you to connect with colleagues, managers and potential employers at industry events.
APIA Employee Members receive regular email alerts and a subscription to The Australian Pipeliner magazine, which ensures they know what is happening in the industry, as it happens.
JP Kenny’s Martin Wettenhall says he became an Employee Member “to be aware in my own right of what is happening in the industry, which enables me to be pro-active as far as industry issues and my employer are concerned”.
Membership will also entitle you to receive member rates for APIA seminars, functions and conferences, providing an added incentive to attend these events, meet new contacts and re-affirm relationships.
QGC Pipeline Engineer Simon Springer says that he is an Employee Member of APIA because of the “access to extensive information and industry expertise that the Association provides”.
He also attends all of the APIA dinners in Brisbane for the informative talks by industry leaders. Mr Springer says that the functions also provide him with an excellent opportunity to network with other industry members.
“Employee membership of APIA is an excellent way to stay in touch with the industry for employees of companies that are APIA members,” says Ms Cartwright.
The membership fee is not only a smart investment in your career; it is an investment in the future success of your industry.
