The WeldROVER is a small, and motorised scanner, with one axis encoded for non-destructive testing (NDT) on metal plates, pipes, vessels and welded components.
The WeldROVER is operated using a two-button remote control and speed selection switch. It operates at steady speeds from 5 mm per second to 50 mm per second in order to achieve a more stable inspection than that attainable with manual scanners. Data acquisition is completed with either an Olympus OmniScan MXU for direct acquisition, or a TomoScan FOCUS LT for computer-based acquisition.
Any Olympus ultrasonic or phased array instrument with an encoder input is compatible with the WeldROVER and requires no programming besides entering the encoder information. As mentioned above, standard OmniScan or TomoView software can also be used. No two-way communication between the scanner and instrument is required. The scanner is completely operated from the WeldROVER remote control.
The WeldROVER is part of the PV-200 family of Olympus systems that has been designed specifically to combine phased array, conventional ultrasound, and time-of-flight defraction technologies for inspections compliant to standards set by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Petroleum Institute, and the American Welding Society. The phased array system is able to fully calibrate every focal law on every channel for time-of-flight, sensitivity (ACG as defined by ASME), TCG/DAC, and velocity.

The EPOCH 1000 series
Another new gauge from Olympus is the EPOCH 1000 series of advanced ultrasonic flaw detectors. The EPOCH 1000 series of gauges is used in a wide range of testing applications where advanced ultrasonic functions are required. The EPOCH 1000 series is IP66 rated and has been tested for vibrations, explosive atmosphere and temperature.
The EPOCH 1000 series comes in three models: EP1000, EP1000iR, and EP1000i. The EP1000i has inbuilt, phased array imaging technology, which allows for a greater probability of detecting flaws, better visualisation and increased inspection efficiency.
The Olympus range also covers high quality optical, electronic and precision engineering products used in remote visual inspections and NDT, including videoscopes, ultrasonic and eddy current flaw detectors, thickness gauges, ultrasonic phased array gauges, and automated inspection systems.
