Clearly, people from Brisbane and elsewhere were keen to learn about infrastructure developments in southeast Queensland from the Deputy Co-ordinator General of the State’s Infrastructure Department, David Stewart. And they were not disappointed.
Southeast Queensland must plan to accommodate an extra one million people by 2026 and this means building infrastructure, including pipelines. Many of these pipelines will transport water and, of course, there has been much focus on Australia’s poor rainfall over the past few years and the need for extra water infrastructure.
With the Queensland Government’s planned investment in development of new dams and expansion of current water capacity, as well as new water treatment options, there will be a need for extra pipelines to meet the extra transport requirements.
With the proposed gas infrastructure in Queensland, such as gas-fired power stations planned for Townsville and Condamine among others, the prospects in the Sunshine State look good for APIA members.
