Inpex is looking at selling upstream stakes in the associated gas fields for the Ichthys Project, rather than in the project itself, and has already received interest from some buyers. However, the company has not yet decided on the extent of any sale, and the size of any stakes would be the subject of talks with potential buyers.

The spokesperson said that the company expected commitments from potential buyers before making a final investment decision on the project.

Inpex’s proposed Ichthys LNG Project involves offshore processing facilities and condensate storage, as well as an 885 km pipeline from the Ichthys Gas Field to the onshore processing facility at Blaydin Point in Darwin. The project is initially expected to produce 8.4 MMt/a of LNG.

Inpex is operator of the Ichthys project with joint venture partners including JGC Corporation, KBR and Chiyoda Corporation.
