The heaters are designed with IECEx d certified terminal enclosures to provide direct electric heating to compensate for the Joule – Thompson effect in high pressure gas pipelines. They are controlled using Thyristor control panels to provide constant output temperatures on the low pressure side of a PRV with typical variations in input flow rates and pressures.
Grimwood said that this design is an ideal substitute for water bath heaters traditionally used for this purpose as the product delivers lower capital cost, lower maintenance cost, less downtime and greater control, all with a smaller footprint.
Recent feedback indicates that the new heaters are working extremely well and meet all the companies’ expectations. The companies have also said that as production rates increase later this year, it is likely that more Grimwood heaters will be required for the compressor stations.
Grimwood Heating has provided the Mila, Colongra and Charleville gas pipeline compressor station heaters with:
- compact design, with low capital expenditure and maintenance costs;
- high efficiency design to minimise carbon footprint;
- a high-quality product;
- excellent service and consultation throughout the project;
- on-time delivery; and,
- competitive pricing.
Grimwood said that similar heaters for many other clients have also been supplied in a variety of other applications.
