MJ Hedges’ survey of the pipeline was completed in record time due to an early contractor involvement approach adopted by AGL Energy and WDS subsidiary Diversified Construction Corporation.

Several survey teams from the MJ Hedges Brisbane and Roma offices were required to combat the challenges of adhering to the tight timelines for the initial centreline survey. Hedges also expedited the easement survey, again to a challenging schedule.

MJ Hedges Geomeasure has been operating in the Roma area of Queensland since 1980 with an office in Roma servicing the oil and gas industry. More recently, the company has also been serving the coal seam gas industry.

MJ Hedges is part of the Fyfe group of companies including Gilbert & Associates in Adelaide and Fyfe JMA in Darwin and Alice Springs. The Fyfe group now has over 220 professional staff in eight office locations around Australia.

In 2001, Fyfe began an expansion by acquiring Adelaide civil engineering company Gilbert & Associates, followed in 2002 by MJ Hedges Geomeasure, a Queensland survey and town planning practice. In 2008, Fyfe’s expansion continued with the acquisition of J Matthews & Associates, a Northern Territory survey company now known as Fyfe JMA.

MJ Hedges & Associates began operating in Brisbane as a land surveying and development consultancy offering planning, surveying and engineering services in both urban and rural locations. A second office was opened in Roma to better cater for the rural districts and later Geomeasure Australia Pty Ltd was established to predominantly service the oil and gas industries.

Over the past two years Fyfe has also established an engineering office in Brisbane using the company’s oil and gas expertise to expand into the coal seam gas area. Fyfe recently announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mustang Engineering, part of the Wood Group of companies, to provide the complete solution for clients developing their coal seam gas field facilities.
