The project, constructed by the Nacap KT Joint Venture and project managed by Alinta Asset Management on behalf of the client, DBNGP Nominees together with DBNGP Transmission, included nine pipeline loops totalling 194 km of DN650 (26 inch) diameter pipeline, mainline valves and associated mechanical works spread a over a distance of 1,400 km.
Commenced in March 2006, the project was notable for its success in the management of environmental issues and compliance with the Environmental Management Plan.
Ably led by the Joint Venture’s Lands and Environment Manager, Norm Sewell, the environmental team attributed this success to the effective integration of environmental management issues into the construction process. As Norm said, “With the support of the construction team, we have been able to make the achievement of environmental objectives business-as-usual.”
Alinta Asset Management contributed materially to the project’s environmental success, providing significant support to the Joint Venture’s environmental team, including effective liaison with the West Australian regulators and the provision of fauna protection and recovery teams.
