The Southdown Iron Ore Pipeline, to be located in Western Australia, is a step closer to construction following the granting of environmental approval for the expansion of Albany Port.

A failure on Minerals and Metals Group’s Century zinc mine slurry pipeline, located in northwest Queensland, required inspired planning and management to achieve the prompt construction of a bypass pipeline, avoiding significant product loss and an encroaching wet season.

Phosphate Australia is investigating three potential routes for a 355 mm diameter steel pipeline to transport up to 3 MMt/a of phosphate slurry from its Highland Plains project, located in the Northern Territory, to dewatering and storage facilities, to be located on the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Discoveries of gas in South Australia’s Cooper Basin in the 1960s saw the birth of the natural gas industry in Australia. These discoveries led to the construction of necessary infrastructure, including pipelines, which would eventually create a natural gas transmission network that now services the eastern states and territory of Australia.

Production recommenced yesterday at Minerals and Metals Group’s (MMG) Century Zinc Mine, following the installation, testing and associated repair work on a leaking slurry pipeline running from the mine to the Port of Karumba, Queensland.

Construction of
Aurox Resources’ Balla Balla mine pipeline, located in northern Western Australia, is ready to commence as soon as funding is arranged, Managing Director Charles Schaus has said.
