Journalists Katherine St Lawrence and Stephanie Clancy recently put their questions to the Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson, about the Federal Government’s perspective on the issues which are shaping Australia’s gas and oil transmission industry.
Transportation of CO2 in a carbon capture and storage (CCS) scheme is critically important but has not been well addressed. While increasing attention is being paid to storage and capture technology, transportation issues still lag behind. In particular, storage assessments, and research and demonstration projects drive capture technology development.

With so much happening on in the pipeline industry it is easy to focus on current projects without looking forward in to the future. The Australian Pipeliner has compiled this special report looking at possible future trends for the pipeline industry.

As carbon capture and storage (CCS) options are being increasingly examined in Australia and around the world,
The Australian Pipeliner thought it timely to republish part of a paper outlining the effects of impurities in CO2 with relation to transport of CO2 via pipeline.
Pipeliners took time out of their busy schedules to attend the APIA Melbourne lunch, held at Hilton on the Park on 4 June.
Many have emphasised the possible negative impact on industries affected by the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, but the outlook is far brighter for those who are versatile enough to embrace the opportunity. With promising developments in sequestration, a whole new class of infrastructure is emerging and pipeliners are leading the way.
