The presenter was Ricardo Fortunato from Solar Turbines, who has recently moved to Australia with his family.
Ricardo provided a new perspective on construction and highlighted some of the political problems of building a pipeline not just across state borders, but across the borders of nations. Even after the tremendous challenges of the terrain and important heritage areas, a change of government meant that on one side of the border - in Bolivia - the government stepped in to ‘re-nationalise’ the pipeline!
All attendees appreciated Ricardo’s entertaining presentation and were amazed to find out that it was the very first time he had given a presentation in English.
Also in attendance were Young Pipeliners Forum members who were spending two days visiting APIA’s Wollongong members’ facilities - a further opportunity for the younger members of the industry to learn from the more experienced members.
