Within the mining industry APC currently has camps located in West Wyalong in New South Wales (400 people), Blackwater in Queensland (250 people), Hamilton and Balmoral in Victoria (300 people) and also at the Telfer mine.

APC’s Frank and Gino Martino attribute their continuing success to “the superior quality” of their camps and said that they were continuing to look into new areas of development and continuous improvements.

Gino stated that APC now manufacture their own special steel doors which were not only very strong but also provide rooms with a good seal, keeping out dust and drafts.

APC’s five man portable units have also been adopted by the mining industry. The units have four normal share ensuite rooms plus a fully self-contained ensuite room. This new configuration setup allows for separate male or female rooms. All units, as a standard comfort, have a split system air conditioning unit that guarantees a good night’s sleep no matter where the unit may be located at the time.

Another new system under development by APC has seen the implementation of quick install verandahs and covered walkways for all camps, with the added bonus that after the camp is disbanded, no concrete or residual materials remains in the ground.

Gino stated that one of the most exciting developments for APC in the coming year is the relocation of its factory from its current Aldinga Beach location to a new, purpose-built factory. The factory will be located in Murray Bridge and will provide APC with 10,000 square metres of space. The project is about to commence with approvals and arrangements currently being finalised.

“Australian Portable Camps wishes everyone a very happy New Year and look forward to continuing to work with the pipeline industry throughout the New Year where we believe challenge is the way to get to the top,” Frank said.
