Astec Australia is Australia’s leading supplier of Trencor trenchers. Astec National Account Manager John Williams says “All the major projects underway or gearing up are using Trencor mechanical drive trenchers. When venturing into the unknown, it gives you confidence that you have a tool that can handle the toughest conditions.”

Trencor’s T1460 mechanical drive chain trencher is currently working on Barrow Island, offshore Western Australia, with KT Pipeline. Part of the Monadelphous group, KT Pipeline has been working with the trencher on the Chevron-led Gorgon LNG Development since May 2011 under very testing environmental conditions.

In addition, Trencor’s T1060 machine is being used by GD Pipelines in Queensland’s CSG sector. GD Pipelines General Manager Michael Delaney has suggested that the acquisition of the machine represents a critical piece of the company’s core business. By selecting the Trencor T1060, Mr Delaney said that GD Pipelines can be confident they will be successful regardless of the ground conditions.

On the back of its growth in the pipeline, mining, aggregates, road construction and asphalt divisions, Astec Australia has moved into a new two-hectare premises in Queensland and a has established a new office in Perth, Western Australia.

“Our new facility gives us greater capability to deliver better service for our customers,” says Astec Australia General Manager David Smale.

“Providing top service to our customers is very important to Astec and our new facility demonstrates we are committed to achieving this.”

In addition to Trencor mechanical drive trenchers, Astec Australia is also a representative for the Vacuworx range of vacuum pipe-handling equipment.

Mr Williams says “Having established the business in 2011, we are definitely looking to grow the range. Adding the Vacuworx vacuum pipe-lifting equipment makes sense – not only do you get the safety benefits but it is also more efficient and reduces manpower, allowing your workforce to be more productive.”
