APC’s fleet of ‘Donga carriers’ hit the road from Adelaide for the 1,017 km trip to Innimanka, completing the journey without any incidents or accidents. Following this, Gino Martino and his crew, which included old hands Boris, Mark, Tony and the two Ronnies, worked to establish the 200-man camp, located approximately 10 km from Innaminka.
While constructing the camp, the APC team stayed onsite in their ‘Silver Bullett’ self-contained 15-man camp. In May, Nacap moved into the camp, which includes accommodation units, laundries, a kitchen-diner and a wet mess. Joe Ashton has been appointed Camp Manager by Nacap.
The APC team said that Gino was obviously following in his father’s footsteps in providing some excellent meals from the ‘Silver Bullett’ for the whole APC crew, plus the odd visitor.
