As a board member and Vice President, Andy has been a strong proponent of making IPLOCA more active, and other board members would also like the organisation to achieve more in terms of establishing standards for pipeline construction, environment and safety.
“A two-year term for board members and a small secretariat has limited IPLOCA’s capabilities and continuity. IPLOCA has been impressed with what APIA has done and would like to emulate some of it. It’s fallen on me to make that happen,” Andy, who takes up the position later this year, said.
IPLOCA was established 40 years ago to improve international pipeline construction standards, safety and efficiency, both on and offshore. To achieve this it conducts research and development in construction skills, tools and equipment and promotes better and safer working practices.
IPLOCA provides a forum for discussions to determine the best ways to construct the worldwide oil and gas facilities that will be required in the years ahead. The organisation is based in Switzerland and has members around the world.
