Ideachip is a global supplier of accessories and appliances in both the environmental and earth construction fields. The company has delivered products to more than 40 countries all over the world, and is always working to expand its international presence. In its main product sector, Allu Screener Crushers, Ideachip is the world’s market leader.

The Allu Screener Crusher is a versatile processing attachment for a wheel loader, excavator or skid steer, which can screen, crush, pulverise, aerate, blend, mix, separate, carry, feed and load all in one step operation.

Currently, there are 35 Allu screener crushers in Georgia, USA and the screener crushers have also been used on projects in Chile, Argentina and China.

There are 25 Allu screener crushers in Houston, where Flint Energy have used the product with great success to assist with padding pipeline on a project in Houston. Flint used the screener crusher without excavators to break up hard material and separate out the large rocks, and was impressed with how quickly the screener crusher could screen material and how well it padded the pipe. The company experienced large time savings in backfilling and covering lines. The Allu screener crusher has since become the standard at Flint Energy for backfilling pipeline.

One project in which the Allu screener crusher proved invaluable was Ireland’s North – South Pipeline. Divided into two contracts, this massive project involves the installation of 150 mm to 600 mm diameter gas pipelines over a total distance of 156 km. The objective of the pipeline is to link Dublin and Belfast, with division of the two contracts being close to Newry City, County Down. The contract running 75 km from Newry to Ballyalbanagh north of Belfast is being completed by a joint venture between the Lagan Group and Belgian civil engineering company Denys, and is progressing at a fast pace through the large volume of specialised plant working on the site.

This project, like many major pipeline projects, relied greatly on the operation of excavator mounted screener crushers which directly screen excavated material back to the trench to pad the pipeline.

Sub-contractor Brian Herron used an Allu SMH screener crusher on the project. Even though there are other manufacturers, the Allu units won through on the basis of their proven performance and local presence. In operation, they succeed in producing a very acceptable product which is screened directly into the trench before pipelaying, with a veil of material also placed over the pipe before main backfilling operations can begin.

Having utilised the screener crushers now for several months, Mr Herron commends them highly. “The standard of material you can get from an ordinary pile of earth with the Allu bucket is really amazing. It makes ideal material to line the trench and cover the pipeline and overall, I’m well impressed with the quality job these buckets can do,” he says.

The project is scheduled for completion during October 2006. Joint venture partners Denys and the Lagan Group look forward to the successful and timely completion of this significant project.

Ideachip, together with its customers, is continuously looking for new application possibilities for Allu products and to develop new technically realisable solutions. Information on the company’s range of products will be available at its booth at the APIA convention in Alice Springs.
