The Dial Before You Dig Automated Response system was selected from a total of four nominations, including last year’s winner, Dampier Bunbury Pipeline for its Driver Drowsiness Tracking System, APA Group for its National Permit to Work System and AJ Lucas Group for its Safety to the Community on the Bonaparte Gas Pipeline, located in the Northern Territory.
APIA’s safety award selection committee chose the Dial Before You Dig Automated Response system because it improved the safety of the pipeline industry and the general public by changing behavioural patterns in reducing complacency and unforseen errors. The system was also chosen for its usability across the pipeline industry, which allowed staff to focus on improving the safety of operating pipelines.
