The annual APIA Convention and Exhibition, one of the highlights of Australia’s energy and infrastructure calendar, will be held in Alice Springs from 14 to 17 October, and is set to be another informative and enjoyable event.
The challenge is on to meet Australia’s infrastructure needs for the future, and long-distance, high-pressure transmission pipelines are among the most important infrastructure requirements for the nation. Australia’s gas transmission pipeline industry does not rely on Government funding – it is privately funded – but it does need governments to provide a secure economic and regulatory climate in order to plan for the future.
Australia’s transmission pipeline industry has already set a high standard in performance and technical quality, meeting the challenges of a demanding continent. The high standard that the industry has set for its Annual Convention and Exhibition is widely recognised amongst energy industries.
The APIA Annual Convention and Exhibition is an important event in Australia’s energy and infrastructure calendar, and the Board of APIA welcomes all delegates and partners attending this year’s event. The theme of the 2006 APIA Annual Convention, at the Alice Springs Convention Centre, is ‘Australia’s Dynamic Pipeline Industry: Infrastructure for the Future’
This 38th APIA Convention will continue the tradition of bringing together those involved in the pipeline industry, both nationally and internationally, onshore and offshore. It will provide updates on major projects and technical developments and analyses of issues affecting all sectors of the industry.
With important developments either being considered or underway, this is an essential conference for all who have an interest in energy infrastructure and the challenges of meeting the nation’s energy requirements.
Business Session highlights include:
* An update of major projects;
* Commentary and analysis of the government’s new
regulatory regime;
* Presentations on important technical developments;
* Safety and integrity developments;
* Presentations on operational challenges; and,
* Developments on the international scene.
The 2006 APIA Convention will again feature a comprehensive Exhibition, providing delegates with the opportunity to see the industry’s latest products and services first hand and discuss them with company representatives.
APIA would like to thank its members and other stakeholders in the industry for their strong support of the 2006 Convention and Exhibition. This support is demonstrated through the sponsorships, exhibition stands and the tremendous number of delegates and their families attending the event. The Board hopes that the 2006 Convention and Exhibition is an interesting, stimulating and fun four days for everyone.
